How it works
How it works: one person, start to finish
Six steps from your first question to funding — with the same specialist all the way, and no credit check until you decide to go ahead.
- 1
1. Tell us the basics — about 60 seconds
What you need, what it's for, how the business is set up and whether you own property. There's no credit check at this stage.
- 2
2. One specialist calls you
A real person reads your enquiry and rings to hear the full story — including the personal side: the home, any guarantees, and how money moves between you and the business.
- 3
3. A straight read of your options
Unsecured or property-secured, through the business or in your name, now or after a little tidying up. If a loan isn't the right answer, we'll tell you.
- 4
4. One matched lender, not a lead auction
We match you to the lender that suits your situation instead of sending your details everywhere. You'll know exactly what that lender needs before you gather anything.
- 5
5. Documents, approval and settlement
Only once you decide to go ahead. A credit check happens at this point, with your agreement. Guarantees and any security are explained before you sign.
- 6
6. Funding
Funds are paid to the business account or directly to whoever needs paying — a supplier, the ATO or a vendor.
What makes it personal
Most small-business finance processes treat the business and the owner as two separate files. In a business your size, they rarely are. So on the first call we'll ask about the things that genuinely shape the right loan for you:
- how the business is structured — sole trader, company, trust or partnership
- whether you own property, who is on the title, and whether you'd consider using it
- any personal guarantees you've already given
- whether personal credit has been funding the business, or the business paying personal costs
- anything awkward — past credit issues or an ATO balance are considered case by case
None of this is about judging you. It's about avoiding an application that was never going to fit, and finding the one that does. If you'd like to think it through first, the personal or business comparison tool and the money-mixing check are good places to start.
What we ask of you
Fill in the form as accurately as you can. The amount, what it's for, your monthly turnover, your structure and your property position are what let us point you at the right option on the first call. Rough is fine; wrong costs time.
Common questions
Does enquiring affect my credit score?
No. There's no credit check when you first enquire. A credit check only happens once you've chosen to go ahead with a specific option.
Will my details be sent to lots of lenders?
No. Your enquiry stays with one specialist who matches you to the lender that fits. We don't farm out or sell your details.
Who will I actually speak to?
A lending specialist who reads your enquiry and calls you. They stay with your enquiry, so you're not re-explaining your situation to a new person each time.
Will you talk to my accountant?
Yes, with your permission. We're not tax advisers, and it often helps to have your accountant confirm the tax side while we handle the lending side.
What if I'm not sure whether to borrow personally or through the business?
Try our side-by-side comparison tool, then mention it on the call. Personal versus business is one of the most common conversations we have.
